Megève is a typical Haute-Savoie village that will not leave you indifferent. Nestled in the heart of the Mont Blanc country, this small town cultivates a charm and authenticity that has preserved its medieval village history.
The village of Megève
Before becoming a renowned resort, Megève is an authentic small alpine village known for its agriculture. Located at the confluence of the Beaufortain, Aravis, and Mont Blanc massifs, Megève quickly became popular with tourists coming on pilgrimage to the Calvary sanctuary.
Just an hour from Geneva, Megève was quickly influenced by the Swiss capital, prized for its chic appeal, gourmet restaurants, landscapes, and emblematic center. The resort experienced a rapid rise in fame, thanks to the birth of the Sports Club and ski competitions. The meteoric rise of Megève is also due to Mathilde Maige-Lefournier, journalist, and the Rothschild family.
An authentic heritage
It is primarily thanks to its agricultural heritage that Megève is today an ambassador of alpine gastronomy. It consists of 45 farms and local producers, 89 restaurants, 3 Michelin-starred tables. The station attracts many talented chefs with an innovative spirit.
